Dhamma Bhumi

Sat on my third 10-day course at Dhamma Bhumi, Blackheath, NSW, Australia. The site is located at Blue Mountain a protected forest and Unesco heritage site. It’s 2km or 30mins walk from Blackheath train station, which is around 2hour train ride from Sydney city on a direct line. The site is tranquil. Throughout the week, we had a few sunny days, misty and cloudy days, and a few days with light rains. In end February/early March the weather was slightly colder for typical end of summer due to cyclone that hit Queensland. But the rain was never heavy and we were undisturbed and just grateful for the serene and supportive atmosphere. So firtunate that the last day of my course coincided with a day where old students and committee of australian vipassana gather to celebrate the completion of top of pagoda, a project that had been on works for more than a decade.

Unzen spring

After recent soak at Ikaho onsen, I compare the effectiveness with the soak at the Unzen spring. According to the website of Unzen Tourist Association , the water in Unzen is Acidic Sulfic spring. Such water, has a high concentration of dissolved sulfur compounds, particularly hydrogen sulfide (H2S), which is what gives them the characteristic smell of rotten eggs. The Unzen spring that I've been to, does not have a strong at the bath. However, since Unzen is famous for its jigoku, the "rotten egg" smell does permeates the air. The spring quality features acidic hydrogen sulfide, sulfur-containing acidic hydrogen alum, and iron vitriol springs, and are commonly known as sulfuric springs. One of nice feature of airport travel, especially if you have or card like Priority Pass can enable you, and sometimes with a companion to visit an airport lounge. The space experiences varied, and lounges in Singapore International Changi airport is among the best. During my travel via Changi airport in early January, I visited SATS Premier Lounge at Changi Terminal 1. It has spacious seating area, including private booth and sofa, as well as dining tables. The lounge served hot items (chicken, pork, noodles, and rice) as well as an eviable selection of hard liquor for own-crafted cocktails that you can help yourself too. It served Pol Remy Brut, red and white wine of Bellevie Pavillion-the light Sauvignon Blanc and medium-bodied Merlot respectively.
